Dr. Suzuki and the Suzuki Method

The Suzuki Method is based on the belief that every child can learn. Just as children learn language through listening, encouragement, and repetition, musical ability can be developed in a joyful and nurturing environment. Created by Japanese pedagogue Dr. Shinichi Suzuki after WWII to instill happiness in children, Dr. Suzuki revolutionized music education by focusing on character over ability yet producing some of the finest musicians in the world.

Lenni Jabour is the Founding Artistic Director of The Toronto Suzuki School. She is the in-person piano teacher at the Bloor West Village studio location, the head teacher of Little Music (Suzuki Early Childhood Education for babies and toddlers), and the leader and accompanist of Blue Skies Children's Chorus.
A former Suzuki piano student herself who went on to study and work professionally as a singer, composer and performance artist in Canada, the US and France, Lenni brings a thoughtful, lighthearted approach to music education. Her calm and focused teaching has helped nurture generations of young musicians, many of whom began as young babies in her Little Music program.

Lenni has written articles and presented professional talks on the impact of early childhood music education on children and families, and has collaborated with the Suzuki Association of the Americas on parent education video resources focused on joyful and supportive home practice. She founded The Toronto Suzuki School in 2014.

Lenni is Past Chair of the Suzuki Association of Ontario and an active member of the SAA, ECMA, AECEO, and CFMTA. She is currently studying harp, and lives in Toronto’s Swansea neighbourhood with her family and their two dogs.
