The Suzuki Method was created by Japanese pedagogue Dr. Shinichi Suzuki after WWII to instill happiness in children by learning music in the most natural way possible: they way they learned their "mother tongue" language.
By listening to their recorded repertoire each day, getting encouragement from their parents and community and focusing on self-expression, Dr. Suzuki revolutionized music education by focusing on character over ability yet producing some of the finest musicians in the world.
The Suzuki Method's founding principle is "every child can". Dr. Suzuki believed that talent and ability can be developed from age zero with parental involvement in lessons, an encouraging home environment, incremental skill-building, observing other children, repetition, and love.

The Toronto Suzuki School welcomes new piano students from age 3+ . We offer two Suzuki piano program options for you to choose from: in-person lessons, or piano study online.
Our Suzuki piano students learn to play their pieces by listening regularly to their recorded repertoire (aka "by ear"). Music reading and more formal elements of theory follow after establishing proper technique and beautiful self-expression. Mastery of small steps according to each student's rate of progress is approached with encouragement and joy, while daily practice initiatives are supported, directive, and fun. Our Suzuki students are motivated to reach goals by committing to learning and practice habits as a community, rooted in happiness and excellence.

Held weekly in Toronto's west-end, The Toronto Suzuki School's Little Music program sets the stage for successful Suzuki Method learning with a maximum class size of 8 students, using real instruments and proven pedagogy taught by real teachers. Little Music students are lovingly observed at each class, with their positive progress and development noted and discussed every week with their accompanying grown-up.
Aside from growing musical ability from the earliest age, developmental benefits in memory, language, pre-reading, self-regulation and socialization are among the many components of our gentle and joyful Little Music program.
Many of our Little Music students go on to successful Suzuki instrument study, forging a lifelong love, ability, and appreciation of music.
